We held our second annual Walk for Missions last Saturday. It was inspiring how people came together to support student missions. Thanks to God we raised about $1,100. The day started with many students coming to the BSM to help with the set up, we then made our way to the UTPA track.
One of the highlights of the event was the prayer stations. Throughout the track we had prayer stations where students could stop and pray for a specific student missionary or for a place in the world. It was encouraging to see all these students, some on their knees, asking God to work in the lives of people.
I am excited about what God is doing among us, looking back this year, I can tell you that UTPA BSM Students have had a tremendous global impact for God’s glory. So far this year, God has used BSM students to reach their campus, reach students in Japan, raise money to buy bicycles in Kenya to raise AIDS awareness, hosted the Zambian Vocal Group and helped them raise money for community development. We have also raised money for literacy programs in Kenya, baked cookies for soldiers serving in Iraq, raised money to buy a goat for a family in Africa, and purchased food baskets for families in need. We are now getting ready to send 14 students to go to several places in the world to continue living out the kingdom of God.
We give God honor and glory for working so powerfully among us for nothing of what has happened at the BSM came about by human effort, but God and God alone.
